A HUBZone Certified Small Business is a U.S. company that has received certification from the Small Business Administration (SBA), verifying that it meets specific criteria designed to promote economic development and employment in Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZones).
The principal office must be located in a designated HUBZone.
At least 35% of its employees must reside in a HUBZone.
It must qualify as a "small business" under SBA size standards.
This certification provides the business with access to federal contract set-asides, helping it compete for contracts that are otherwise restricted.
