Disabled

In Federal Contracting (SDVOSB)

In the context of U.S. federal contracting, the term "Disabled" refers to a Service-Disabled Veteran who has a disability determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

A business qualifies as an SDVOSB if:

  • The business is at least 51% unconditionally and directly owned and controlled by one or more Service-Disabled Veterans.

  • The Service-Disabled Veteran's disability is service-connected (meaning it was incurred or aggravated in the line of duty in the Armed Forces).

  • The Service-Disabled Veteran must hold the highest officer position and manage the day-to-day operations.

This status grants the business access to exclusive federal contract set-asides and sole-source opportunities, helping the government meet its small business utilization goals.
